IGLESIA DE LOS PADRES FRANCISCANOS Conjunto religioso de distintos estilos y épocas. La nave central (s. XI) de estilo románico es el edificio más antiguo que se conserva en Avilés. Adosadas a ella se encuentran, a la izquierda, la capilla de Pedro Solis (s. XV) de estilo gótico, y a la derecha la capilla del Cristo (s. XVIII) de estilo barroco. En su interior se encuentran los restos de Don Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, almirante de la Armada bajo las órdenes de Felipe II y fundador de la ciudad más antigua de los Estados Unidos de América, San Agustín de La Florida.
eng: PADRES FRANCISCANOS CHURCH The central part of the church, in romanesque style (13th c) is the oldest building in Avilés. Later on, two chapels were added : the one on the left, Pedro Solís Chapel, was put up in the XV century in gothic style ; and the one on the right, El Cristo Chapel, was built in the 18th c. in baroque style. The mortal remains of Pedro Menéadez, the popular seaman from Avilés who founded the first city in The United States of America "San Agustín de la Florida", are kept in this church.
