De Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk is de hoofdkerk van de stad Vlissingen, in de Nederlandse provincie Zeeland. Het gebouw staat op de Oude Markt; rondom lopen de straten Achter de Kerk, Branderijstraat en Lepelstraat. De oorspronkelijk rooms-katholieke kerk behoort sinds 1572 tot de Nederlands Hervormde Gemeente (sinds 2004 de Protestante Kerk in Nederland) .

De kerk is een combinatie van een pseudobasiliek en een hallenkerk: de zijbeuken zijn bijna even breed als het middenschip, de drie beuken hebben elk een eigen gewelf en het middenschip steekt boven de zijbeuken uit hoewel een lichtbeuk ontbreekt.

De kerk werd tussen 1308 en 1328 gesticht. Uit deze tijd stamt het onderste (stenen) gedeelte van de Sint-Jacobstoren. De gotische spits werd in 1501 vervangen door een houten bekroning die op de huidige lijkt. Het carillon in de toren bevindt is al het vierde carillon van de kerk en dateert uit 1951.

In 1911 brak er in de kerk een grote brand uit, waardoor de kerk zwaar beschadigd werd. Door de brand stortte de torenspits naar beneden en kwam terecht op de rest van het kerkgebouw. Een groot deel van de inrichting ging verloren, alsmede de kerkorgels.

De noordelijke dwarsarm was vroeger bestemd als Engelse kerk; dit gedeelte was afgeschermd door middel van een muur. Na de grote brand is een groot gedeelte ervan verwoest, de oude poort is nog te zien aan de Branderijstraat naast de pastorie. De Engelsen verhuisden in 1914 naar de nieuwe Engelse Kerk op de plek van het huidige stadhuis aan de Paul Krugerstraat.

The Grote or Sint-Jacobskerk is the main church of the city of Vlissingen, in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The building is located on the Oude Markt; the streets Achter de Kerk, Branderijstraat and Lepelstraat run around. The originally Roman Catholic church has belonged to the church since 1572. to the Dutch Reformed Congregation (since 2004 the Protestant Church in the Netherlands) .

The church is a combination of a pseudo-basilica and a hall church: the side aisles are almost as wide as the central nave, the three naves each have their own vault and the central nave protrudes above the side aisles, although there is no clerestory.

The church was founded between 1308 and 1328. The lower (stone) part of the St. Jacobstoren dates from this time. The Gothic spire was replaced in 1501 by a wooden crown that resembles the current one. The carillon in the tower is already the fourth carillon of the church and dates from 1951.

In 1911 a major fire broke out in the church, which severely damaged the church. The fire caused the spire to collapse and land on the rest of the church building. A large part of the furnishings were lost, as well as the church organs.

The northern cross arm used to be an English church; this part was protected by a wall. After the great fire, a large part of it was destroyed, the old gate can still be seen on the Branderijstraat next to the rectory. The English moved in 1914 to the new English Church on the site of the current town hall on Paul Krugerstraat.
