The area have its name after the farm that once owned it.
The campus was planned out with a main axis that should correspond
with the axis of The Vigeland Park a few kms southwest.
First part of the campus was build inthe 1930ties, and construction
continued 1960-1970. A fem more buildings have been added recently.
The boarding home for students, Blindern Studenterhjem that is placed just west of the campus was build 1925. In 1940 Norwegian Meteorological Institute moved to Blindern in a new building.
