It was built to serve as the home of Don Juan Antonió Pérez Gamoneda and Cascos Villada Morosprier Marqués de Gamoneda, a title that was granted to him by King Carlos III in 1765 who was royal secretary, Knight of Santiago chambermaid in the Council of the Indies.
The building has a rectangular floor plan, with plastered slate masonry walls and sandstone ashlar masonry in corner chains and openings. The roof is made of slate gabled slabs, with a skirt on the main façade.
The interior spatial distribution of the ground floor, floor and attic underwent various modifications in past centuries to adapt it to new uses. In the house on the central balcony, the coat of arms of the Gamoneda family stands out, which is said to be one of the most ostentatious coats of arms in Asturias.
It was a boarding house for the last century and currently houses the "Severo Ochoa" exhibition on the life and scientific work of the Nobel Prize. "
