Civic Savings Bank was founded in Slaný in 1864 and first operated in the building of the old town hall on the square. An expression of its prosperity was the purchase of a house under construction on the opposite side of the square. The house was adapted for the needs of the bank and in 1873 the bank moved there. The corner house was rebuilt into its current form in 1903. The Civic Savings Bank worked here until 1948, when it was forcibly occupied by the communist regime, and of course the house, and was included in the nationwide company "Sporitelna". Because there were a total of three Savings Banks in Slaný, house No.136 on the square was vacated and the communist "National Committee" moved to it (after the fall of communism in 1989 it is the "Slaný Town Hall"). And so it has remained to this day. The only difference is that the building was originally entered from Vinarický Street (east side) and today the main entrance from the square (south side) is an insignificant detail.
