ST AUGUSTINE - Windmill - Windmills on Waymarking.com

If one has traveled across the Desert Plains of New Mexico you will find that water is the most precious commodity of all.
Without it nothing here would survive long.
This windmill has been here as long as I can remember and well I won't say how long that is.
But a while.
St. Augustine also chose this route for the many springs through the area,later the Indians then the Pioneers.
Now us...............
This is one place most all have crossed in the History of our Country.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1945 (RAM) WINDMILL IS LOCATED 0.1 MILE S OF THE POST OFFICE AT AUGUSTINE. THE POST OFFICE IS ON U.S. HIGHWAY 60. WINDMILL IS 81 FEET E OF A HOUSE WHICH IS PAINTED RED, JUST W OF A SMALL DIRT WATER TANK, AND NEAR TWO LARGER METAL TANKS AND ONE SMALLER ONE. THE WINDMILL HAS A 40-FOOT TOWER AND A 12-FOOT WHEEL.

The Post Office is gone and the only remaining evidence is the Ranch House.The Red Paint has also been sun bleached out.
