In the parking lot at Maihaugen open-air museum there is an old locomotive with two train cars. It is a freight car and a passenger car. The freight car has driven with mail, letters and packages around Norway. Both carriages appear to be in fine condition.

In 1854, the first railway opened in Norway, from Christiania to Eidsvold. Mail sorting was also set up for all railway lines, and sorting mail in the mail cars was a coveted job.
