DE: Das achteckige Bauwerk Wikingturm, welches sich im Schleswiger Stadtteil Friedrichsberg befindet, ist etwa 90m hoch und besitzt 29 Etagen. Ursprünglich war der Turm als Hotel mit 100 Betten und einigen Sportanlagen von Architekt und Investor Horst-Günther Hisam geplant.
Baubeginn war im April 1970, Richtfest wurde 1972 im August gefeiert, vor der geplanten Fertigstellung zum Frühjahr 1974 meldete der Bauträger aber Insolvenz an. Die Aufarbeitung der Insolvenz und die Übergabe an das Bundesland Schleswig-Holstein dauerte bis 1977, im gleichen Jahr wurden weitere Umbaumaßnahmen in Einzelwohnungen vorgenommen und Ende 1977 zogen die ersten Mieter ein.
Hinterlassenschaften einer nahen Teerpappenfabrik sorgten für eine Kontaminierung der Umgebung sowohl an Land als auch im Wasser, die Sanierung begann dann Ende 2020.

Construction began in April 1970, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated in August 1972, but the developer filed for bankruptcy before the planned completion in spring 1974. The processing of the bankruptcy and the handover to the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein lasted until 1977, in the same year further renovations were carried out in individual apartments and at the end of 1977 the first tenants moved in.
The remains of a nearby tar card factory caused contamination of the area both on land and in the water, the remediation then began at the end of 2020.
