Marchants Bridge is a small bridge over the River Meavy. The stepping stones are a few yards down river from the bridge on the higher side of the ford. The ford and the stepping stones preceded the bridge. The monks would have used this route on their way from Plympton Priory to Buckland or Tavistock Abbeys, the bridge was probably built to keep them dry. As you can see from the picture of the ford the water was over the stepping stones on the day I visited. The above co-ordinates were taken in the middle of the grassy area because of tree cover.
