Advokat Aage Ludvig Holberg Elmquist
18-5-1888 - 20-9-1962
Justitsminister 1945-1947

The sculpture of the kneeling woman with flowers can be seen at Assistens Cemetery in Svendborg. It is at a family grave belonging to the Elmquist family.

The sculpture which is made of bronze and placed on top of a cement plinth is about 75 cm high. It depicts a woman kneeling, laying a bouquet of flowers in front of her. In fact, the woman is half naked as she is only wearing a skirt.
The sculpture is at the back of a family burial site. There is no information about the artwork.

On the tombstone stands.
Lawyer Aage Ludvig Holberg Elmquist
18-5-1888 - 20-9-1962
Minister of Justice 1945-1947
Member of the Folketing 1927-1932 and of the Landsting 1939-1953 *(The Danish Parlament)
Member of Svendborg City Council 1937-1945

Around this tombstone there are several smaller tombstones on family members. It is unusual to have a sculpture of this kind on a grave. The sculpture was probably donated because Elmquist has been both Minister of Justice and a member of the Danish Parliament.
