HOOFDGEBOUW HUIS HOEKELUM. Rechthoekig deels omgracht huis, opgetrokken in rode baksteen onder een afgeplat schilddak met torentje. Het dak is gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. Hoekelum is in oorsprong middeleeuws, waarschijnlijk kort na 1542 verbouwd en rond 1735 sterk gewijzigd. Het huis werd wederom in 1846-1849 door de Arnhemse architect Fromberg verbouwd, die onder meer het gebogen zinken dak met torentje met schalmgaten, wijzerplaat en tentdak ontworpen heeft.

"Hoekelum is een kasteel en landgoed tussen Ede en Bennekom, in de Nederlandse provincie Gelderland. Het kasteel ligt aan de Edeseweg 124 in Bennekom.
De oudste vermelding dateert uit 1396, als Randolph van Hoekelum, jagermeester van de hertog van Gelre, ermee beleend wordt. Het moet echter veel ouder zijn, omdat de belening spreekt van “het oude goed te Hoekelum”. Het oudste stenen gebouw ter plekke dateerde uit circa 1325. Hoekelum was toentertijd gekoppeld aan het erfelijke jagermeestersambt.
Vanaf de zestiende eeuw is het goed in bezit van de familie Van Poelwijck, nadien is het diverse malen verkocht. In 1695 werd het gekocht door Hessel van Lawick.
Door vererving kwam het vervolgens in bezit van de families Van Balveren en na huwelijk in 1819 Van Wassenaer. In 1988 werd het landgoed overgedragen aan het Geldersch Landschap.
Het gebouw werd omstreeks 1735 vrijwel geheel herbouwd.
Landgoed
De oppervlakte van het landgoed, in bezit van Gelders Landschap, is 112 ha. Rond het landhuis is een park aangelegd in de stijl van onder andere Johan David Zocher. Door het park met slingerende paden en rechte boslanen is een spreng aangelegd. In het park bevindt zich, naast het hoofdgebouw, nog een aantal andere monumentale objecten:

MAIN BUILDING HOUSE HOEKELUM. Rectangular partly moated house, built in red brick under a flattened hipped roof with a turret. The roof is covered with braised Dutch tiles. Hoekelum is medieval in origin, probably rebuilt shortly after 1542 and heavily modified around 1735. The house was again renovated in 1846-1849 by the Arnhem architect Fromberg, who designed, among other things, the curved zinc roof with a turret with link holes, clock face and tent roof.

Hoekelum is a castle and estate between Ede and Bennekom, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The castle is located at Edeseweg 124 in Bennekom.
The oldest mention dates from 1396, when Randolph van Hoekelum, hunter master of the Duke of Gelre, is enfeoffed with it. However, it must be much older, because the loan speaks of "the old estate at Hoekelum". The oldest stone building on the site dates from about 1325. Hoekelum at that time was linked to the hereditary hunter master's office.
The property has been in the possession of the Van Poelwijck family since the sixteenth century, and has since been sold several times. In 1695 it was bought by Hessel van Lawick.
By inheritance it then came into the possession of the Van Balveren families and after marriage in 1819 Van Wassenaer. In 1988 the estate was transferred to the Geldersch Landschap.
The building was almost completely rebuilt around 1735.
Estate
The surface of the estate, owned by Gelders Landschap, is 112 ha. A park has been laid out around the country house in the style of Johan David Zocher, among others. A spring has been constructed through the park with winding paths and straight forest avenues. In addition to the main building, the park contains a number of other monumental objects:
