Fox Tor Farm was built in 1812 by Thomas Windeatt who had leased the land. The Windeatt family held the lease until 1843, it was then taken over by the Eden Family. The farm was abandoned in 1863 after a lot of effort was made in trying to build a viable business. They bred cattle and some of land was used for arable crops and potatoes. The farmhouse was rather small, at one time managed to house a family with over 10 children!
