The frieze dates from 1896, when the town architect Rudolf Štech modified the Town Hall building to its current form in the Neo-Renaissance style. However, the town hall building itself is older, in 1751 Count Michal of Martinice had a new town hall built on the site of the original building, but it burned down on August 2, 1795. After the repairs, the town hall served until the mentioned modification in 1896.
