About the statue (news article from 2020):
"The statue of the mythical figure with the globe, dating from 1776, was removed from its plinth two years ago and taken to a repair workshop. The statue needed an urgent refurbishment. The plinth also had to be renewed, because loose stones could potentially lead to dangerous situations."
