The Miner is located on a plinth of natural stone, presumably from the mining area.

A sign by the sculpture says:

Falun Copper Mine in Dalarna has been a major producer of copper until well into the 1800s. The mine is now open to the public and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
