The modest St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel is at the southern corner of the currently developed plots in the property off of Mendon Road in Cumberland, Rhode Island. The parish church is up the road just over half a mile north.

Constructed of textured, two-toned masonry, the structure is divided into north and south parts. The main southern section is a single-story with a gable roof and has a covered portico on the east side that a vehicle can pass beneath to drop off mourners who may then enter through a double door there. Attached to its north is a two-story tower with a steeple topped by a cross. Dark gray shingles cover all roof components. From the St. Joseph Parish website:

Cemetery and Chapel
St. Joseph Cemetery was established in the late 1800s on donated land in the village of Berkeley. The cemetery contains approximately 6000 grave lots to serve the needs of parishioners. There are 4 acres which have not been developed so space is still available and it is not restricted to members of the parish.

Grave lots are sold with the right to burial for two, four or six persons which include perpetual care and the foundation for a monument.

In 2002, a Chapel was blessed and dedicated so that in case of inclement weather, mourners could be protected from the elements. The Chapel was built completely by memorial donations from the generous people of the parish and our friends.

Burial niches were built into the Chapel marble wall to accommodated 253 cremated remains. Each niche is for two persons and the price is based on wall location.
