"The artwork was commissioned by the Rabobank in Drachten, which is celebrating its anniversary. At the time, the artist was shocked by the apartheid regime in South Africa. In response, he designed a sculpture in which two children are tying a sheaf of corn together. One child is a Zulu girl and the other a white boy. Together they form the symbol for a better future."
