Robert Normann (1916-1998) started playing music in the streets at the age of 12 and became a professional musician in 1932. He was self-taught and could play several different instruments.
He was one of Europe's greatest jazz musicians and guitar legends through the ages. He also was one of the swing era's most sought guitar soloists, and was a pioneer of electric guitar.
A 2 meter high sculpture of Guitar legend Robert Normann who plays his guitar can be seen in Kulåsparken.
The sculpture was made by the artist Stein Nerland in 2016. The background is larvikite and the guitar is in granite. When it is dark, light shines through all the holes in the sculpture and gives a nice outline.
