A história da Sociedade Amor da Pátria, Instituição de Utilidade Pública, de Recreio, Cultura e Filantropia, fundada há quase 160 anos, agraciada pela Presidência da República com a Ordem do Mérito, confunde-se com a história do último século e meio da cidade da Horta, ilha do Faial, tal a importância que assumiu nesta cidade, onde marcou indelevelmente a cultura e a sociedade.

The Sociedade Amor da Pátria MHM (Society Love of the Motherland) is a Masonic society founded in the city of Horta, Azores, on November 28, 1859. Masonic lodge, under the influence of the Grande Oriente Lusitano, under the motto “Love for the Fatherland is what guides us” , the Amor da Pátria Society has established itself in the Faial and Azorean milieu for its altruistic, socio-economic and cultural purposes.
