Skarsvåg fishing harbor is the northernmost fishing harbor in the world and is located next to the Barents Sea.
Cod and King crabs are mainly fished.
Out of the 60 inhabitants who live in Skarsvåg, most are associated with fishing.
Originally, Skarsvåg arose precisely due to fishing and the construction of a harbor. This is called in Norwegian "Fiskevær" (Fishing Village). A Fishing Village were in the old days settlements that arose due to fishing. When the fishing ceased, the settlement was closed down. However, Skarsvåg has passed and even been expanded with a café, hotel and campsite. Many tourists visit Skarsvåg and eat freshly caught King Crabs at the café.
