"The building rests on concrete columns with girders, which are laid out throughout the building. The wooden formwork of the concrete has left an imprint, which is clearly visible in the columns. In the design, much attention was paid to energy-conscious building, including insulation of walls, floors and roofs. The building has a total of 6800 m² of floor space. The building has cost approximately € 7.1 million. The board and staff moved into the new building in July 1982. On September 6, 1982, the City Hall was officially opened by Minister of the Interior, also acting Queen's Commissioner for Flevoland mr. Max Gustaaf Rood (1927-2001).
On the first floor, in the central hall, is the reception. Adjacent to the hall is the council chamber. Next to the council chamber is the wedding chamber. By removing the sliding walls, both rooms can be used as one. The executive board of the municipality, the mayor and the aldermen, are housed on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor houses the various departments of municipal works. The technical departments are housed on the 3rd floor. In a number of places in the building, the building volumes shift relative to each other or cross over. In some places this has created balconies.
In 1988 a carillon was installed on the tower of the city hall. At that time the carillon consisted of 25 bells cast by bellfoundry Eijsbouts."
