The first three words of the Preamble to the United States Constitution -- We the People -- hover above a unique bench in the middle of Roger Williams National Memorial park in downtown Providence, Rhode Island.

The seat creatively combines three mediums: metal, stone, and wood. Five repurposed planks of wood form the seat and backrest. Painted green, square steel stock supports the bench and a vertical framework that holds aloft the tri-colored script - "We" in blue, "the" in white, and "People" in red. A stylized quill, emblematic of a feather pen the Founding Fathers used to write and sign the document, tops the piece and stretches horizontally beyond the frame's edges. Round rods bent skillfully make the text and feather. A cage of stone enclosed beneath the seat holds the bench in place.

There are no maker marks on the bench and I was unable to locate information about it through an online search.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
