Vuonna 1983 paikalle oli juuri avattu uusi tavaratalo, kun tuhopolttaja päätti laittaa wc-paperipaalin palamaan. Palo levisi ja paikka täyttyi savusta. Vaikka savua oli huomattavasti, ei kaikki ihmiset ottaneet tilannetta vakavissaan. Kaksi sattumoisin paikalla ollutta palomiestä saivat sitten ihmisiä evakoitua, eikä tässä tapahtunut ihmisvahinkoja. Palo levisi koko rakennukseen ja polisilla oli vaikeuksia pitää uteliaita ihmisiä pois palopaikalta. Tuhopolttaja saatiin kyllä kiinni, mutta tämä tulipalo tuli hyvinkin kuuluisaksi.

Murha Puolalanmäen koulussa oli lajissaan ensimmäinen koulusurma Suomessa. Vuonna 1981 lukion oppilas hakkasi lapiolla opettajansa kuoliaaksi koulun käytävällä. Surmaaja oli odottanut tilaisuuttaan ja kertonut aikeistaan muille oppilaille. Hänen tekemä surma aiheutti keskustelua yhteiskunnassa vallitsevasta kovasta arvomaailmasta. Taideaineiden, liikunnan ja käden töiden osuutta toivottiin lisättävän opetussuunnitelmaan.

Muotiliike Marien omistaja oli 69-vuotias ja hän asui omistamansa pienen muotiliikkeen takahuoneessa. Itsenäisyyspäivän aattona vuonna 1957 murhaaja oli aluperin suunnitellut ryöstää liikkeen, mutta tilanne oli ilmeisesti mennyt tukalaksi ja raaka murha oli tapahtunut. Poliisi lupasi palkkiota vihjeistä ja näin päästiinkin surmaajan kannoille. Murha oli tapahtunut kivellä lyöden ja näin verta oli joutunut paljonkin surmaajan vaatteisiin jotka oli löydetty, vieläpä laatikossa jossa oli liikkeen nimi.

Valde Hirvikannan murha WM14BKY

Outoja murhia on Turussa ollut enemmänkin. Tämän murhan syytä ei ole pystytty selvittämään. Murhaaja tappoi itsensä. Valde Hirvikanta oli tunnettu kansanedustaja sekä hovioikeuden presidentti. Hän asui nk Kasinonkulmaksi nykyään kutsutussa jo puretussa talossaan. Vuonna 1911 lokakuun 3.pvä murhaaja oli tappanut Valde Hirvikannan hänen kotiovellaan. Hän kuoli vammoihinsa välittömästi ja jostain syystä itse murhaaja oli joutunut asunnon kuistille ja tappanut siellä itsensä aseellaan. Poliittisena murhana tätä tapausta pidettiin aikoinaan. Hautajaisiin osallistui tuhansia ihmisiä sillä Hirvikanta oli kuuluisa ihminen.

Suomen Pankin ryöstö WM135GN

Suomen ehkä kuuluisin pankkiryöstö tapahtui täällä vuonna 2007. Rahankuljetusliikkeen auto ryöstettiin Suomen Pankin sisäpihalla. Kommandopipoiset ryöstäjät onnistuivat pakenemaan paikalta suuren saaliin kanssa. 1.4 miljoonaa euroa. Poliisi ei pakenijoita saanut kiinni, mutta sama kopla yritti vielä samana vuonna toista rahankuljetusauton ryöstöä. Tällä kertaa he jäivät kiinni poliisin saatua etukäteen vihjeen ryöstöstä.

In 1983, a new department store had just opened on Turku when the arsonist decided to put the toilet paper bale on fire. At the same time, the department store could hold up to 500 people. The fire spread and the place was filled with smoke. Although there was considerable smoke, not all people took the situation seriously. The two firefighters who happened to be present then helped people to be evacuated, and no injuries occurred. The fire spread throughout the building and police had difficulty keeping curious people out of the fire scene. The arsonist was caught, but this fire became very famous.

The Murder of Finland at Puolalanmäki School was the first school murder of its kind in Finland. In 1981, a high school student shoveled his teacher to death in the school hallway with a shovel. The killer had waited for his opportunity and told his intentions to the other students.

Murder in a fashion store WM14BM8

Fashion store Marie owner was 69 years old lady and she lived in the back room of a small fashion store. On the eve of Independence Day in 1957, the murderer had originally planned to rob the store, but the situation had apparently gone awry and a brutal murder had taken place. The police promised a reward for the clues and this led to the killer's track. The murder had happened with a stone and thus a lot of blood had gotten into the killer's clothes that had been found, even in a box with the name of the shop.

Turn left at the corner of Ursininkatu and Yliopistonkatu and walk two blocks. At the third block, you will see a small courtyard area with a fountain. This is your fourth stop.
Murder of Valde Hirvikanta WM14BKY (

There have been more strange murders in Turku. The cause of this murder has not been determined. The murderer killed himself. Valde Hirvikanta was a well-known Member of Parliament and President of the Court of Appeal. Actual residential house has nowadays been demolished. In 3rd of October 1911, the assassin had killed Valde Hirvikanta at his front door. He died of his injuries immediately and for some reason the murderer himself had trapped on the porch of the apartment and killed himself there with his weapon. This case was once considered a political assassination. Thousands of people attended the funeral as Hirvikanta was a very famous person.

Heist of Bank of Finland WM135GN

Perhaps the most famous bank robbery in Finland took place here in 2007. The car of a money transport company was robbed in the courtyard of the Bank of Finland. Commando-hooded robbers managed to escape the scene with a large amount of cash. EUR 1.4 million. Police did not catch the fugitives, but the same gang attempted another robbery of a money truck in the same year. This time, they were caught after the police received a hint of a robbery in advance.

The tour is over. There was cases for murder, arson and robbery. As a city, Turku is not particularly violent. There has just been all sorts of crime in its history.
