DE: In der ehemaligen Heil- und Pflegeanstalt in Waldbröl, die sich im Schaumburgweg 3 befindet, richtete der Zen-Meister Thich Nhat Hanh im Jahr 2008 das Europäische Institut für angewandten Bhuddismus (EIAB) ein. Durch Umbauten im Gebäude wurden Seminarräume, eine Meditationshalle und Unterbringungsmöglichkeiten für an die 200 Mönche, Nonnen und Seminargäste sowie ein kleiner Tempel geschaffen. Ein großzügiger Zen-Garten mit Stupa (einem Glockenturm), Bhuddafiguren und Sitzbänken lädt zum meditieren ein.

Das Institut bietet Seminare nach dem Prinzip der Achtsamkeit und Meditation basierend auf den Lehren und Einsichten Bhuddas an, ohne dabei zum Bhuddismus bekehren zu wollen. Die Institutsräume sind während der regelmäßig stattfindenden Achtsamkeitstage, die oft Sonntags stattfinden, auch interessierten Tagesgästen zugänglich.

EN: In 2008, the Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh set up the European Institute for Applied Bhuddism (EIAB) in the former sanatorium in Waldbröl, which is located at Schaumburgweg 3. By renovating the building, seminar rooms, a meditation hall and accommodation for around 200 monks, nuns and seminar guests as well as a small temple were created. A spacious Zen garden with a stupa (a bell tower), Bhudda figures and benches invites you to meditate.

The institute offers seminars on the principle of mindfulness and meditation based on the teachings and insights of Bhudda, without wanting to convert to Bhuddism. The institute's rooms are also accessible to interested day guests during the regular mindfulness days, which often take place on Sundays.
