The Belleville High Banks Speedway calls itself "The World's Fastest Half Mile Dirt Oval Race Track." As with most tracks like this, it began as with horse racing as part of the county fair. On the introduction of those new-fangled auto-mobiles, the first auto race here was on July 4, 1910, with three entries - two Buicks and a Ford. Sadly, the Ford lost. The track grew quickly and (for example) the Belleville Midgets Nationals held here is the largest event of its type in the world. See the link above for much more information, including the history of the track. Amenities here include a large grandstand on the west side and a concession stand.
Type of Track: Oval Dirt
