The Sheepfold enclosure was built for growing potatoes and the making of starch, when this venture failed it was made into a sheepfold.
A Sheepfold was a sheep housing and handling area, the uprights where the pens used to be are still inside the sheepfold.
According to the baptism records, in 1833 Samuel and Lydia Gifford lived at Sheepfold with their 2 children Thirza and William. Samuel was a miner.
