DE: Das von 1899 bis 1900 erbaute Gebäude wurde ursprünglich als Alumnat, einem Internat für Jungen, errichtet. Während des ersten Weltkrieges war das Rheinland Aufmarschgebiet der gegen den Westen eingesetzten Armeen und Brühl wurde kurz nach Beginn des Krieges zur Garnisonsstadt erklärt. Damit einhergehend wurden die größeren Gebäude wie auch das städtische Alumnat in Reservelazarette umgewandelt und dienten der Versorgung der Verwundeten.

EN: The building, which was built between 1899 and 1900, was originally built as an alumni, a boarding school for boys. During the First World War, the Rhineland was the deployment area of the armies deployed against the west and Brühl was declared a garrison town shortly after the beginning of the war. As a result, the larger buildings as well as the municipal alumnate were converted into reserve hospitals and served to care for the wounded.
