Het Graafs Museum is een streekmuseum in de Noord-Brabantse stad Grave, dat zich bevindt in de 17e-eeuwse Hampoort.
Geschiedenis
Het museum is ontstaan uit de privé-verzameling van de Graafse amateurarcheoloog Martien Koolen. De verzameling groeide en daarom zocht en vond hij in 1977 een nieuwe uitstallingsruimte in het Oude Stadhuis. In 1979 werd een groot deel van de voorwerpen vernield door een verwarde man. In de jaren hierna werd vanuit de Graafse bevolking een nieuwe verzameling opgebouwd die archeologische voorwerpen, prenten en andere objecten omvatte. Deze verzameling ontgroeide de tentoonstellingsruimte in het Oude Stadhuis en verhuisde in 1980 naar een ruimte die behoorde tot de Sint-Elisabethkerk. De kerk had deze ruimte echter zelf weer nodig toen in 2002 de parochie samengevoegd werd met die van de Hemelvaartskerk. Om deze reden verhuisde het museum naar een historisch pand in de Lomberdstraat. Op 31 maart 2006 werd het museum ten slotte gehuisvest in een speciaal daarvoor ingericht deel van de Hampoort (1688).
Programmering en inrichting
Het museum heeft een permanente tentoonstelling en organiseert wisselende exposities. Daarnaast maken de twee zogeheten brugkazematten van de Peel-Raamstelling, Kazemat Noord en Kazemat Zuid, deel ui van het museum. Hier worden speciale tentoonstellingen gehouden, betrekking hebbend op de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
De permanente tentoonstelling, onder de titel Vensters op het Graafs erfgoed, is gegroepeerd rond een grote maquette die de stad Grave in het jaar 1845 uitbeeldt. Veel materiaal heeft betrekking op de geschiedenis van de streek en van de vesting. Ook worden er voorwerpen getoond die bij opgravingen zijn gevonden, en daarnaast beeldmateriaal en documentatie.

Vaste opstelling
Vensters op het Graafs erfgoed
in het uit 1688 stammende deel van het museum is een tentoonstelling te zien over de ontwikkeling van de vesting Grave en het verhaal van de vele belegeringen, waardoor de stad het predikaat ‘meest belegerde stad van Nederland’ verkregen heeft.
Er zijn bijzondere prenten te zien, opgegraven aardewerk, gereedschappen, wapens en andere gebruiksartikelen.
Startpunt van vele stadswandelingen is de imposante maquette.
In voorbereiding is de permanente expositie die aansluit bij de canon over de gemeente Grave. Er wordt niet een strikt chronologische volgorde gehanteerd bij de presentatie van de voorwerpen, maar er zijn negen 'clusters' gevormd die ieder een specifiek onderwerp behandelen. Vraag naar de canon van Grave en u krijgt een overzicht van een enerverende geschiedenis !

The Graafs Museum is a regional museum in the North Brabant town of Grave, which is located in the 17th century Hampoort.
History
The museum originated from the private collection of the amateur archaeologist Martien Koolen from Graaf. As the collection grew, he sought and found a new display space in the Old Town Hall in 1977. In 1979 a lot of the objects were destroyed by a confused man. In the years that followed, a new collection was built up from the population of Graaf, which included archaeological objects, prints and other objects. This collection outgrew the exhibition space in the Old Town Hall and moved in 1980 to a space that belonged to the Saint Elisabeth Church. However, the church needed this space again when in 2002 the parish was merged with that of the Ascension Church. For this reason, the museum moved to a historic building in Lomberdstraat. On March 31, 2006, the museum was finally housed in a specially equipped section of the Hampoort (1688).
Programming and layout
The museum has a permanent exhibition and organizes changing exhibitions. In addition, the two so-called bridge casemates of the Peel-Raamstelling, Kazemat Noord and Kazemat Zuid, are part of the museum. Special exhibitions related to the Second World War are held here.
The permanent exhibition, entitled Windows on the Count's Heritage, is grouped around a large model depicting the town of Grave in 1845. Much material relates to the history of the region and the fortress. Objects found during excavations are also displayed, as well as images and documentation.

In the part of the museum, which dates back to 1688, you can see an exhibition about the development of the Grave fortress and the story of the many sieges, which earned the city the title "most besieged city in the Netherlands".
There are special prints, excavated pottery, tools, weapons and other utensils.

The permanent exhibition that is in line with the canon about the municipality of Grave is in preparation. There is no strict chronological order in the presentation of the objects, but nine 'clusters' have been formed, each dealing with a specific subject.
