Largest Popcorn Ball - Guinness World Records on Waymarking.com

Volunteers in Sac City first built a Guinness record popcorn ball weighing 2,225 lbs on April 29, 1995. The record was bested by the Boy Scouts in September of that year. The ball was dynamited at the county fair in 1997.

In 2004, 40 volunteers gathered to reclaim the record for Sac City. Beginning at 8:00 AM, June 12th 2004, workers began mixing and building the ball. 7 hours and 13 minutes later, they ceased work with a popcorn ball weighing 3,100 lbs and having a circumferance of over 20 feet!

The ball has toured area fairs and festivals, and is on permanent display in a small building constructed to showcase it located just off Highway 20 in Sac City, Iowa.
