This monument stands in the back of Oakview Cemetery in Sac City, Iowa. It is dedicated to the Defenders of the Union, and bears the inscriptions "SOLDIERS, SAILORS, CITIZENS" and "MAY THE REMEMBRANCE OF THEIR VALOR AND PATRIOTISM BE PERPETUATED"
