The Geographic Centre of Europe is located beside the Romanian border, near the well-known Carpathian Nature Reserve, on the largest tributaries of the Danube River, the Tysa Rivers - Black Tysa and White Tysa. This location is in the highest region of the Carpathian Mountains, surrounded on all sides by the highest mountain ranges. Nearby is Ukraine's highest mountain - Hoverla - which rises 2061 metres above sea level.
