Figura św. Jana Nepomucena na starym rynku w Poznaniu powstała w 1724 roku. Widoczna na niej jest postać świętego trzymającego krzyż, a po jego bokach dwa anioły - jeden z nich trzyma klucz. Całość znajduje się na wysokim 5-6 metrowym cokole. Dookoła cokołu wkopane są w ziemię cztery lufy armatnie.
Jan Nepomucen (1350-1393) - prezbiter, spowiednik Zofii Bawarskiej, męczennik oraz święty kościoła katolickiego. Patron Pragi, jezuitów, chroniący miasta przed powodziami (nękały one Poznań wielokrotnie).
The statue of St. John of Nepomuk on the old market square in Poznań was created in 1724. You can see the figure of the saint holding a cross, and on its sides two angels - one of them is holding a key. The whole is placed on a high 5-6 meter plinth. Around the figure, four cannon barrels are dug into the ground.
St. John of Nepomuk (1350-1393) - presbyter, confessor of Sophia of Bavaria, martyr and saint of the Catholic Church. The patron saint of Prague, the Jesuits, protecting the city from floods (which plagued Poznań many times).
