The three galleons that welcome us to the museum… anyone would say that they are a reproduction of La Pinta, La Niña and La Santamaría. However, despite approaching contextually in their history, the ships exhibited here belonged to Vital Alsar Ramírez, a Cantabrian by birth (who currently resides in Acapulco) who, imitating Christopher Columbus, in 1977 went to sea and, with the help of these 3 galleons, he sailed the Atlantic Ocean. So no, it is not about reproductions. Those majestic ships crossed the raging waters that separate us from what was once known as the new continent, and shortly after Alsar ended his journey, he donated them to Santander.
