This is a tree devouring a gravestone in a historic cemetery. The cemetery is on the grounds of the Mill Hill Historical Society in Norwalk, CT. The building used to be a city hall.

All that can be read on the stone now are the words:

Here lie the remains of Samuel St. John.

There is information about him from findagrave.com:
"Samuel St John was born abt 1699 in Norwalk, Fairfield Co, Connecticut. His father James St John b1669 was 27 and his mother Mary Comstock was 25. He had four younger brothers and three younger sisters. He was married to Eunice Sherman. Samuel passed away on Oct 13, 1779 in his hometown of Norwalk having lived a long life of 80 years. He was laid to rest next to his beloved wife Eunice who had died in 1762. As you can see his Tombstone has been engulfed by the growth of a nearby tree over the decades."
