Den vietnamesisk katolske gruppe i Svendborg opførte i 2000 Maria-grotten ved vejen nær den katolske kirke.
I 2005 skete der desværre det, at Svendborg Kommune skulle udvide vejen og dermed var der ikke plads til det lille vejkapel. Den katolske kirke førte forhandlinger med kommunen, og det endte med at Maria-grotten nu kunne få en anden plads.
I 2009 var Maria-Grotten igen klar til besøg. Nu ligger det på den anden side af vejen, beskyttet af en mur og nu omgivet af græs, blomster og flisebelægning.
In 2000, the Vietnamese Catholic group in Svendborg built the Maria Cave by the road near the Catholic Church.
In 2005, it unfortunately happened that Svendborg Municipality had to widen the road and thus there was no room for the small waychapel. The Catholic Church conducted negotiations with the municipality, and it ended up that the Maria Cave could now get another place.
In 2009, the waychapel was again ready for a visit. Now it is on the other side of the road, protected by a wall and now surrounded by grass, flowers and tiling.
