This is Dawg's preferred hospital...if a dog has such a thing! There are four veterinarians at this hospital. Each one is a great veterinarian in their own right, however they work well as a team to compliment each other.

Dr. Ty tankersley:
Dr. Tankersley received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1989. He went on to complete a surgical internship in Arcadia, California, and later a Chief of Surgery assignment at Banfield Pet Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Tankersley returned to Colorado in 1992 to work for Dr. Jack Makens from whom he purchased Hampden Veterinary Clinic ( now Hampden Family Pet Hospital ) in 1993.

Dr. Melani Poundstone:
Dr. Poundstone received her Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1989. She has also received her Diplomate status with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. She practiced locally at Alameda East Veterinary hospital as an emergency room doctor and then as Dean of students at Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. She is an active member of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society and enjoys working with high school students that have an interest in veterinary medicine.

Dr Monica Watterud:
Dr. Watterud received her doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1989. She practiced in Southern California for 3 years before returning to Denver in 1992. She has greatly enjoyed the Denver area and is elated to be involved in a full-service veterinary practice.

Dr. Kris Abbey:(Dawg's favorite!)
Dr. Kris Abbey is a native of Colorado, born and raised in Fort Collins. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Colorado and the University of Utah, and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1987. She completed an internship program at Pittsford Animal Hospital in New York. She enjoys the challenges of general medicine and surgery, and has recently taken an interest in complementary integrative medicine. She became certified in veterinary acupuncture in 1998. She is also currently taking training in Chinese herbal medicine.

Preventative Health Care
We provide routine preventative wellness care such as yearly exams, vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), etc.



Anesthesia And Surgery
Our hospital uses the most stage of the art equipment in anesthesia available today. We provide a wide range of surgical services in the areas of soft tissue, orthaedics, CO2 laser Cryosurgery, etc.



CO2 Laser Surgery
We are pleased to offer laser surgery as an exciting new option for safe, comfortable treatment. In many procedures the laser can replace the scapel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery.

Spaying and Neutering
We use the same state of the art monitoring and anesthesia as we do for other major surgeries to ensure optimum safety.

In House Diagnostic Laboratory
We have a complete on-site lab facility which includes complete blood counts, chemistry profiles, electrolytes, urinalysis, fecal exams, and other tests for accurate and quick results.

Radiology
We have a complete radiology unit and employ a Board Certified Radiologist to view films and perform diagnostic ultrasound when needed for your pet.

Dentistry
We recommend and perform dental cleaning and polishing, including periodontal treatments, extractions, and laser gingival treatments when needed.
