The Christian Youth Association was founded in Zutphen on 21-10-1861. This was the forerunner of the YMCA Zutphen. This association was for men only. There were separate clubs for women. In 1957 the clubs merged and was the association for both male and female youth.
The building at Emmerikseweg 239 in Zutphen was built in 1972 and is owned by the YMCA Zutphen.
In 2017 a building has had a complete makeover and it looks like the pictures at the gallery of the waymark.
This YMCA focuses only on youth work.
A number of activities:
Since 1987 a summer festival where the children stay for 4 days on a wooded area of 6 ha. There they play forest games, competition games, build huts and eat lunch in the self-built hut.
Camp weekends are regularly organized for children from 6 to 12 years old and for the 16+ youth.
A monthly meet and greet for youth aged 12-16 where they can chat, chill, dance or play a game in the playroom.
There is also a baking club for primary school children.
