These are two muzzle-loading cannons originally brought to New Zealand in 1879. They were originally located at the harbor entrance to defend the harbor. They were buried in 1941 to prevent enemy aircraft from seeing them during WWII. In 1977 they were removed from the ground and later brought to the park.
Parking is located next to the park along almost all sides. Paved trails lead to the display.
