Kinder haben Rechte. Die müssen verwirklicht und stark und nachhaltig ins Bewusstsein gerufen werden. Denn es gibt noch viel zu tun. Das ist der Grundgedanke der Initiative des Deutschen Kinderschutzbundes e.V. (DKSB) Neuss, im Alten Stadtgarten auf dem Spielplatz mit der Lokomotive einen Platz der Kinderrechte einzurichten. Unterstützt von den Parteien CDU, SPD, FDP, Die Grünen, Die Linke und den Gremien der Stadt sowie terre des hommes konnte die Idee umgesetzt werden.
Am 5.7.2019 um 11.00 Uhr wurde durch den Kinderschutzbund Ortsverband Neuss als Veranstalter mit einem lebendigen Fest der Platz der Kinderrechte im Neusser Stadtgarten eingeweiht. Frau Professor Süßmuth, ehemalige Bundestagspräsidentin, auch Beiratsmitglied des Kinderschutzbundes Neuss, enthüllte das Schild mit der Aufschrift: Platz der Kinderrechte - 2018 benannt auf Initiative des Kinderschutzbundes Neuss als öffentliches Bekenntnis zur UN-Konvention der Rechte des Kindes (1989)
Der Platz soll immer wieder bewusst machen, wie wichtig Kinderrechte sind. Er soll für regelmäßige Veranstaltungen genutzt werden. Es sollen Skulpturen zu Kinderrechten entstehen. „Einiges ist noch Zukunftsmusik.“ (Quelle)
Der Platz der Kinderrechte hat eine eigene Postadresse und einen Kinderrechte Briefkasten. Die Kinder können direkt per QR-Code in den Briefkasten ihre Anregungen hineinschreiben, nach dem Motto: Was würdest Du in Neuss ändern, wenn Du bestimmen könntest, oder was kann so bleiben. Es ist auch möglich, die Ideen per Brief an den Kinderrechte Briefkasten per Post zu schicken, (Adresse: KINDERRECHTE Briefkasten Kinderschutzbund, Platz der Kinderrechte, 41464 Neuss). Der Briefkasten wird zwei Mal wöchentlich geleert und der Kinderschutzbund antwortet innerhalb ca. 2 Wochen, kümmert sich um die Anliegen und informiert immer am Tag der Kinderrechte die Öffentlichkeit über die Ergebnisse. Children have rights. They have to be realized and made strong and sustainable. Because there is still a lot to be done. The Children's Rights Square has its own postal address and children's rights mailbox. The children can write their suggestions directly into the mailbox using a QR code, following the motto: What would you change in Neuss if you could determine, or what can stay that way. It is also possible to send the ideas to the Children's Rights Mailbox by post (address: KINDERRECHTE Mailbox Kinderschutzbund, Platz der Kinderrechte, 41464 Neuss). The mailbox is emptied twice a week and the child protection association replies within approx. 2 weeks, takes care of the concerns and always informs the public about the results on the day of children's rights.
