At the back of the Kazimierzowski Palace there is a Russian cannon from 1909. It is a three-tone, 122 millimeter howitzer, which commemorates the participation of students and employees of the University of Warsaw in the Polish-Bolshevik war for Polish independence.
The original cannon, which was captured during the fights at that time, stood in the back of the building as early as 1921, however, under communism after World War II it did not like the authorities and was removed. The current cannon stood there in 1990, just after the change of political system.
