[PL] Witold Pilecki (ur. 13 maja 1901, zm. 25 maja 1948) - rotmistrz kawalerii Wojska Polskiego, wspólzalozyciel Tajnej Armii Polskiej, weteran wojny polsko-bolszewickiej (1919-1921) oraz kampanii wrzesniowej (1939), zolnierz Armii Krajowej, wiezien i organizator ruchu oporu w KL Auschwitz. Autor raportów o Holocauscie, tzw. Raportów Pileckiego. Oskarzony i skazany przez wladze komunistyczne Polski Ludowej na kare smierci, stracony w 1948. Posmiertnie, w 1990 uniewazniono wyrok. W 2006 otrzymal Order Orla Bialego, a w 2013 zostal awansowany do stopnia pulkownika.

Opis miejsca:
Pomnik to szescienna bryla z kamienia, z peknieciem, w którym umieszczona zostala postac Witolda Pileckiego. Na frontalnej scianie znajduje sie jego imie i nazwisko, okres zycia oraz dwuzdaniowy opis. Na scianie bocznej zostal wypisany zyciorys rotmistrza, który zajmuje jej cala powierzchnie (patrz zdjecie). Pomnik znajduje sie niedaleko miejsca gdzie Witold Pilecki zostal aresztowany 19 wrzesnia 1940 roku.


[EN] Witold Pilecki (May 13, 1901 - May 25, 1948) - rotational master of the Polish Army cavalry, co-founder of the Secret Polish Army, veteran of the Polish-Soviet War (1919-1921) and the September Campaign (1939), Home Army soldier, prisoner and organizer of the resistance movement in Auschwitz. Author of reports on the Holocaust, the so-called Pilecki Reports. Accused and sentenced to death by the communist authorities of the People's Republic of Poland, executed in 1948. Posthumously, the sentence was annulled in 1990. In 2006 he received the Order of the White Eagle, and in 2013 he was promoted to the rank of Colonel.

Place description:
The monument is a cubic block of stone, with a crack, in which the figure of Witold Pilecki is placed. On the front wall there is his name and surname, period of life and a two sentence description. On the side wall there is a biography of the rotormaster, which is filling the entire area (see photo). The monument is located near the place where Witold Pilecki was arrested on September 19, 1940.
