"The more than four thousand pieces exhibited in the Fernández Pacheco-Outeiriño (COFEPO) collection tell the story of the universal railway from its beginnings with the steam engine, the next steps with diesel and electricity, until reaching high speed. The evolution of design, the materials used in the manufacture of the train, everything can be seen in this permanent exhibition, unique in Europe, on an H0 scale.

The collection was started by Manuel Fernández-Pacheco in 1955 when his father gave him his first toy train. Many years later, together with his wife, Carmen Outeiriño from Ourense, they decide to donate their magnificent collection to the Provincial Council of Ourense on the sole condition that it be permanently exposed to the public. The exhibition is mounted following a chronological order that allows us to appreciate the evolution that the train had throughout its history. Among its pieces, many of them jewels already out of print, we find historical and mythical trains such as, for example, those that served to sign the armistices that put an end to the two great world wars. Also the Orient Express, the Barcelona-Mataró (the first that circulated in Spain), the Oro del Rin, the Mistral, the Flecha de Oro, the Spanish Talgos or the Surexpreso Madrid-Paris,The machinist of La General .

Among the jewels in the collection we find trains such as the Orient Express, the first Barcelona-Mataró or the Sudexpress Madrid-Paris, in which Buster Keaton shot El maquinista de la general.

The exhibition is located in the beautiful building of the Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center, from the early 20th century, and is organized following a chronological order that allows us to enjoy and learn from the technological evolution of this means of transport, central to the city of Ourense. It is completed with an interesting thematic library."
