"Une vieille légende du pays raconte que ce fut à cet endroit formant une plate-forme surélevée que Pierre l'Ermite, après avoir parcouru le Berry et la Lorraine, vint une dernière fois haranguer les 50.000 Croisés de Godefroid de Bouillon, pressés d'en découdre avec les Infidèles profanateurs du Saint Sépulcre.
Autre version plus plausible qu', à la fin du XIème siècle, c'est de ce promontoire rocheux qui porte le nom de Chaire à Prêcher, que Pierre l'Ermite, a harangué les habitants de Poupehan pour qu'ils se joignent à la troupe des Croisés."

"An old local legend tells that it was at this place, forming a raised platform, that Peter the Hermit, after having travelled through Berry and Lorraine, came one last time to harass the 50,000 Crusaders of Godfrey of Bouillon, in a hurry to fight with the Infidels who desecrated the Holy Sepulchre.
