Jävre turiststation

Jävre turiststation är en byggnad i Jävre, nära Piteå.

Jävre turiststation ritades av arkitekt Gunnar Lehtipalo i modernistisk stil, byggdes vid E4 för att betjäna en ny bilburen turism och invigdes 1967. Det lådformade huset, med en stor glasfasad mot vägen och Jävreviken, vilar på en öppen valvbåge av armerad betong och har övriga ytterväggar klädda med blå och gråfärgad korrugerad plåt.

Anäggningen var tänkt som en port till Norrbotten för turister söderifrån och drevs av Norrbottens Turisttrafikförbund, och 1975-78 av Piteå kommun. Sommarsäsongen 1967 slog turiststationen rekord med 37.000 besökare. I anläggningen ingick en stugby med 25 övernattningsstugor.

År 1978 upphörde den kommunala turistservicen i Jävre. Piteå kommun sålde byggnaden, som sedan tjänstgjorde som reception till stugbyn ett kortare tag innan den övergavs. Efter en förfallsperiod på 20 år renoverades byggnaden och år 2003 öppnades åter turistinformation i byggnaden, vilken samma år byggnadsminnesförklarades. Invändigt är byggnaden restaurerad till 60-talsskick och innehåller en samling föremål från den tiden.

Jävre tourist station

Jävre tourist station is a building in Jävre, near Piteå.

Jävre tourist station was designed by architect Gunnar Lehtipalo in modernist style, built at E4 to serve a new car-borne tourism and inaugurated in 1967. The box-shaped house, with a large glass facade facing the road and Jävreviken, rests on an open arched concrete arch and has other exterior walls clad with blue and gray corrugated iron.

The facility was intended as a gateway to Norrbotten for tourists from the south and was run by Norrbotten's Tourist Traffic Association, and 1975-78 by Piteå municipality. In the summer season of 1967, the tourist station broke a record with 37,000 visitors. The facility included a holiday village with 25 overnight cottages.

In 1978, the municipal tourist service in Jävre ceased. Piteå municipality sold the building, which then served as a reception for the cottage village for a short time before it was abandoned. After a period of 20 years, the building was renovated and in 2003 tourist information was reopened in the building, which in the same year was declared a building monument. Inside, the building has been restored to 60s condition and contains a collection of objects from that time.
