"The current Donostia / San Sebastián City Council was, from its inauguration on July 1, 1887 until its closure in 1924, due to the prohibition of gambling, the headquarters of the Gran Casino de Donostia / San Sebastián. Politicians, writers and artists of the Belle Epoque entertained themselves with their roulettes and in their Ballroom, now the Plenary Hall.

On January 20, 1947 it became the Town Hall of the city, which changed its headquarters from the Plaza de la Constitución. In the heart of Bahía de la Concha , with the incessant atmosphere of the Old Town behind you and with the tranquility of the Alderdi Eder gardens facing you, the City Hall is undoubtedly a mandatory stopping point."

"San Sebastián (Basque Donostia and officially Donostia / San Sebastián ) is a city and municipality Spanish located on the coast of the Bay of Biscay and 20 kilometers from the border with France . The city is the capital of the province of Guipúzcoa , in the autonomous community of the Basque Country . The population of the municipality is 186,665 inhabitants (2018), and its metropolitan area reaches 436,500 ( 2010 ). It is the head of the Basque Eurocity Bayona-San Sebastián, a conurbation of more than 620,000 inhabitants.

Its main economic activities are commerce and tourism, constituting in the past one of the most famous tourist destinations in Spain . Its landscape, dominated by the bay of La Concha , as well as its modern architectural development that began in the second half of the 19th century , which formed a French and gentrified city, fostered the development of tourist activity on a European scale. This, coupled with international events such as the San Sebastián International Film Festival , the San Sebastian Jazz Festival , the Musical Fortnightor the Horror Film Festival, has given the city a projection abroad, despite its small size. It was the European Capital of Culture in 2016 along with Wroclaw , Poland."
