The vista is located near downtown Davenport, IA. In the winter, as the water freezes over, the eagles move south with the open waters. They can then provide themselves with the fish that they need to help them survive the winters. The dams create turbulance that keeps the water from freezing. An island across the water from the binoculars, provides a safe resting and eating area for thr eagles. Often, there are over 25 bald eagles at a time seen roosting in the trees. They are often seen flying low and twisting over the water to grab a fish. Sometimes two of them will fight over a fish. If you are really lucky, you may see a falcon roosting on the piers of the dam.
