Lochem's old monumental post office was opened in 1915 and served until 2003. A superb detail is the original mailbox.
It is now a protected monument.
After it closed it has been empty for a while. After that, a bookshop was temporarily housed in it. There was also a shop for brocante and gifts for a while. Today it is a doctors office. The post office has been in various shops after the closure, a bookshop, a supermarket and nowadays in a shop that sells magazines, office supplies, etc. It has become a small corner in that store.
Nothing from the glorious old times can be found there.
Hardly anyone goes to a post office anymore, everything can be arranged digitally.
