February 5, 1911 3 boys drowned when they fell through the ice. It touched the small community deeply.
There had been ice on a small lake in the city. When Henrik and Kristian went out on the ice, they fell through. Hans Peter saw it, and tried to save his two friends. However, all three boys drowned.
When the boy was to be buried, this had to take place outside the church, as more than 300 adults and 200 children had attended the funeral.

A collection of the citizens was made for a tombstone. The stone is made by Sculptor Niels Hansen Jacobsen. In the middle there is a tree. On one side of the tree are their names as well as descriptions of the accident.
