According to the Bridgeport History Center at Bridgeport Library, in 1906, Remington decided to build its own shot tower and make its own shot. The plant needed 100 tons of shot per day and the sole source of supply was in Illinois.
“Building the tower commenced in 1908 and was completed seven months later by February 1909. The tower was 10 stories high, 190 feet to the top of the flagpole and dominated the Bridgeport skyline,” the center said.
“The tower was built from funds from the young owner of Remington’s private fortune,” according to the history center. “He wanted the tower to be an ornament to the city. The tower was the tallest building in Connecticut for many years and was a remarkable structure.” - CTPost.com

This old decaying amunition plant is believed to be haunted by ghosts and the supernatural. Until the 1980's it was used by the Remington Arms Gun Manufacturers, then they sold all the East Side Complex to subsequent owners. It was finally entirely abandoned (no where on site was being used) in 2007, though many of the buildings had been out of order for awhile. It has caught on fire from 2008 - 2010 multiple times. In 2009 the Travel Channel's show 'Ghost Adventures' did a segment there because of such belief of haunting, ghost sightings, terrible noises, and odd occurrences that happen at the abandoned industrial factory. - Roadtrippers.com
