Cafeé de Manebrug is vernoemd naar de gelijknamige brug die naast
het café ligt. Deze brug werd vroeger Monebrug of Monnebrug
genoemd. Dat zou verwijzen naar ene Salomon Hogendoorn,
een keuterboer die aan het begin van de negentiende eeuw in (de
buurt van) het latere café woonde. Of dit klopt is echter tot op
heden niet bewezen. De huidige brug is gebouwd in 1953.

Cafeé de Manebrug is named after the eponymous bridge next to it
the cafe is located. This bridge used to be Monebrug or Monnebrug
mentioned. That would refer to a certain Salomon Hogendoorn,
a small farmer who at the beginning of the nineteenth century in near the later café. Whether this is true, however, is up to
not proven today. The current bridge was built in 1953.
